My first android phone was the Motorola Droid. I got it a few weeks after release. Going from a flip phone to that droid was amazing

Still has a lot of things to fix. I'm running 8.0 Oreo and there's this clock lockscreen and ad that pops out and fills the entire screen. I didn't install Go Launcher, nor any pathetic battery saver applications, because I know they're nothing but worthless crapware. I've tried deleting 30 suspected applications, and still nothing is making it go away. I tried looking into Permissions, Auto Start, and Access in Settings, and still nothing.
This would not happen on iOS. Apple might be locked down like a prison, but at least their users don't face the same problem as I do.

Hard to believe that it's been 10 years since Android came to existence to rival the iPhone. Here's to another ten and many more Android.

Happy Android day! How crazy the mobile space has changed in just 10 years. My only regret not jumping into this hype train early on and becoming a developer.

My first Android was a Chinese copy of Htc hero, it was on Froyo 2.2, I loved it in 2012, but it was unreliable and its screen burnt out less than six months on, I also liked Huawei ideos at that time but was not able to get one.

So many dumb asses here who thinks Apple "can't keep up" with Android. Apple is killing Android in almost every aspect other then units sold or the market share. Which if you have half a brain you will also know why that's the case.

thank god for Android. was an applefag for several years, completely brainwashed like applefags are now. no way i could EVER go back now, spend 3 times the money for less features? and every year apple takes another feature away while increasing price and making the phone more breakable? lmfao. im always showing my sister things my phone can do and shes like "my phone doesnt do that", and i say "maybe in 5 more years it can lol".

When I first saw the early demos of android, I knew Palm OS and symbian would never stand a chance at the rate they were going.

That notification panel and quick menu were revolutionary at that time considering how horrible iPhone notifications were pre iOS 5. (Longtime iPhone User here.) I remember the G1 and the original Droid coming out and being like “wow, these devices can actually compete with the iPhone and they have some advantages.” The droid I think was the turning point for android that really brought peoples attention to the platform.

Android was around longer than that, They started in 2003 but of course it wasn't owned by Google then. That started in 2005.
